The hosts \u2013 Ross, James, and Jon, who are based in <strong>Dorchester, Bournemouth, and Treforest in South Wales<\/strong> \u2013 have been recording the show for six years, starting during the 2020 pandemic as an excuse for three old friends to chat about the strange films that warped them as kids.<\/p><p>Despite being a niche show, <em>General Witchfinders<\/em> is a regular fixture in the <strong>UK Top 10 Apple Podcast Film History charts<\/strong>. In 2024, the <strong>British Library Sound Archive<\/strong> even contacted the team to say the podcast was being preserved as part of the nation\u2019s audio heritage.<\/p><p>\u2018We are humbled \u2013 and frankly baffled \u2013 that our \u201cmoronic prattle\u201d will now outlive us all,\u2019 says co-host Ross Cleaver. \u2018Somewhere in the depths of the national archive, our laughter over the name of legendary <em>Dracula A.D. 1972<\/em> cinematographer Dick Bush, now sits alongside the Beatles and Bowie. It is truly surreal.\u2019<\/p><p>The event also marks the launch of <strong>Issue 4 of the General Witchfinders Zine<\/strong>.
